The River

Life "after" Healthy U has been a constant battle.
Working to make sure that I stay on track with my diet-plan ... and get to the gym and move as much as possible. All while keeping up with my teaching responsibilities, coaching responsibilities, family obligations, friends, and whatever else comes my way.

There's a great song that goes like this:

You know a dream is like a river
Ever changin' as it flows
And a dreamer's just a vessel
That must follow where it goes
Trying to learn from what's behind you
And never knowing what's in store
Makes each day a constant battle
Just to stay between the shores...

What the song is talking about is the same: Our dreams (lives) have to be fluid- ever changing as life throws us changes. And I'm just the vessel that has to follow wherever my dream takes me.

... and I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I'll never reach my destination
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry

And I have to keep sailing my vessel until the river runs dry- Until my life is over, I have to keep trying to follow that dream of mine.
So many dreams!

Too many times we stand aside
And let the waters slip away
'Til what we put off 'til tomorrow
Has now become today
So don't you sit upon the shoreline
And say you're satisfied
Choose to chance the rapids
And dare to dance the tide...

This is one of my favorite stanzas: We can't stand aside and let life pass us by.
I LOVE the line "So don't you sit upon the shoreline and say you're satisfied"
He's saying do it. Get in the River. Live life!
And then there comes the bridge:

There's bound to be rough waters
And I know I'll take some falls
But with the good Lord as my captain
I can make it through them all...

There will be hard times. There will be times when we fall. Times when life seems rough and like everything is working against you. But, if I have God who is guiding me on this whole journey, I will make it through.

So, I will sail my vessel 'Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I'll never reach my destination
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry.

I just love that song and I think at any moment in life it is talking about just that: Life. It speaks to me each time I listen to it!

In other news: I've been doing a lot of driving and thinking lately.
Country roads from my childhood are my faves.

I found this quote and I love it.

Last Friday night was the Athletic Hall of Fame induction.
It's always nice to get to see people inducted into the Hall who were people that you looked up to as a young person.

Got my new kicks for this upcoming softball season!!
We have a team meeting this week and will begin open fields next week.

I wore TWO dresses to school last week.
People were astonished. haha
I also did my hair like this and got a lot of compliments about my hair do.
Little did they know it was because I didn't shower that morning ;)

Another good quote.
I've been trying to give everything to God lately.
He's the one in control!

So, we're coming up on the year-date of my grandfather's death.
Shortly after he died, someone approached one of my aunts and told her that anytime we see a hummingbird it is actually him (she was like a psychic or something??)
So, hummingbirds have become a thing for my family.
